About Us

Holtec Britain

Holtec Britain is the UK subsidiary of Holtec International, a pioneering technology innovator in the field of commercial nuclear and solar energy generation. Founded in the USA in 1986 by Dr Kris Singh.

Holtec has been actively involved in the UK market since the 1990s, providing services and equipment to UK nuclear power stations. Holtec is now significantly scaling up operations to deploy and build the SMR-300, a cutting-edge Small Modular Reactor, here in the UK.

History and Heritage

During the 1980s, Holtec embarked on delivering turnkey projects, specializing in designing, patenting and supplying capital equipment for commercial nuclear power stations. This included advanced technologies for managing used nuclear fuel and waste discharged from nuclear reactors.

In the 2010s, Holtec started a separate initiative to develop a Small Modular Reactor, the SMR-300, marking a milestone in its technological advancements. As a fully integrated supplier, Holtec possesses in-house capabilities for designing, engineering, analyzing, constructing, and deploying the technologies it offers.

Holtec’s contributions to the UK

Holtec’s proven technologies integrate seamlessly with the UK’s existing supply chain. Our spent nuclear fuel storage solutions are already deployed at a UK nuclear site, where we actively engage local suppliers and expertise. Our wider portfolio  including the SMR-300 small modular reactor, Air-Cooled Condensers, and the Green Boiler thermal energy storage system  will enable the creation of thousands of highly skilled, well-paid jobs nationwide, with a focus on regions targeted for socioeconomic growth and development.
